I’ve had good experiences with FTH Group repairing several D710 issues including repairing a stupid damage incident when I dropped the control head and damaged a knob.
Excellent advice, thank you. I had reached out to United Radio but I'll try FTH from your recommendation :-)
The Icom ID-5100A that is standing in for the ailing Kenwood TM-D710G is certainly a different experience. The contrast on the screen isn't the best, but it's a touch screen so that is sometimes helpful. I do like how it selects repeaters nearby based on one's location. That's a plus. And I'm surprised that there is a bit more D-STAR activity in my neighborhood (I-5 corridor, Seattle to Portland) than I expected.

Also send BOTH the display head and the radio unit. Both have firmware that needs to match.
